Spec 2.0 Update Empty
PostSubject: Spec 2.0 Update   Spec 2.0 Update EmptyWed Oct 05 2011, 12:23

Here's some info on Spec 2.0 posted on GT Planet. DMH, you might want to skip over the mid-race save part..lol.

Get your wallets out boys and girls. It looks like tracks and cars will be available as downloadable content!!!!!!

(From GTP)
Kazunori Yamauchi has been sharing a boatload of new details via Twitter this morning on the previously announced Gran Turismo 5 Spec 2.0 Update coming later this month. Here’s an overview of what we can expect from 2.0, which will be made available to everyone for free:

-Simplified interior views added to all standard cars.
-User control of the weather change feature.
-Settings sheet which allows you to save multiple car settings.
-New Spec 2.0 opening movie.
-Improved UI response and usability.
-Replay forward/rewind.
-Mid-race save feature for endurance races.
-Expanded online lounge features (narrowing down car types, shuffle races…).
-Expanded Photo Travel features (you can now take photos of cars together with your avatar).
-Added “NASCAR Pit Scene” stage to Photo Travel.
-Added 11 new 2011 NASCAR models.
-Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport (the car in which Kazunori contested the 2011 Nurburgring 24 Hours).
-Improved physics and artificial intelligence.
-Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheel.

Kazunori has also provided some information about DLC, which will become available sometime after Spec 2.0 is released and will include a “racing car pack”, a “course pack”, and a “racing gear pack”.

The release date for 2.0 has also been set for October 11th, as confirmed by the PlayStation Blog.

(Release date based on the Europe Playstation Blog. Might be the 12th for USA...just guessing. Blackjack.)

Spec 2.0 Update Empty
PostSubject: Re: Spec 2.0 Update   Spec 2.0 Update EmptyWed Oct 05 2011, 21:09

Well, the simplified interior view will make Joker happy! And to be honest, I'm happy to have an upgrade at all. The only questions I have are:

What is UI, and how does it apply to the game?

Does 'Improved Physics' mean we will have to re-adjust to how the game feels yet again? It took a while to get used to this one, and while an improvment, I wonder just what will be changed to add to the experiance?

And I can't wait to get a glimpse of what the DLC packs would incorporate in their respective content. Pay for tracks that have been used in past games? (Midfield, Infinion, or Special Stage Route 11?) I can only pray for completely new courses. Oops, was that another strike on ol' Secretariat? Beat dead horse

Racing car pack is intriguing. There are so many race cars from so many classes in so many years, that the possibilities are endless. With any luck this will be successful and they will think of 'Manufacturer Packs' to fill in what most feel to be glaring omissions to the production car library.

It's anyones guess what the Racing Gear Pack would include. More helmets/suites? Or maybe a package to apply to selected cars for racing service? (ie; RM on new cars?)

This is exciting, and I'm patiently awaiting further details. Thank you Jack for your posting of this. This is good news to hear on the only forum that matters to me.

PostSubject: Re: Spec 2.0 Update   Spec 2.0 Update EmptyThu Oct 06 2011, 12:08

I have no problem paying for the DLC depending on the content.

If you remember, when GT5 came out, Kaz said there would be no DLC....but here it is. We'll find out soon enough if we're paying for it.

The only problem I see is if there is an awesome track or tracks in the DLC, we can't use it in the WRE unless everyone agrees to spend money.

Has anyone else notice that the projected release date for 2.0 is the release date for Forza 4? Hmmm...is PD getting nervous?

Hopefully we'll all benefit from the console wars.

After buying two racing games since GT5 came out, I can honestly say that I'm spoiled by GT5. Nothing else on a console can compare. Bring on the update and DLC! I'm excited!

I'm Happy with the Spaec2 update.I guess some interior view is better than none,i'm assuming simplified means that it wont have the attention to detail as premium but thats not why i use the interior view,so i'm very happy about this.I hope Kaz doesn't plan on charging too much for DLC.

Yes, I agree fully with Jack on paying for MORE cars/tracks. I believe that DLC is just a sign of the times. When a game as massive as GT5 is taking years to develop, having the opportunity to ADD to the game once a year will go a long way to lessen the want for a new game.

And if certain models weren't around when the game is developed, then what? Wait it out and hope it's included for the next go 'round? I think that they may also have had some unforseen problems in mapping out some of the tracks that they may have intended to include in the first place.

With this years disaster in Japan, companies may have to change policy decisions made in the past that would equate to a viable bottom line in the future. With the global economy still sagging under the weight of the past events, offering a way to make money while providing a better product makes for a solid business plan.

I remember seeing how the brand X guys got an Enzo early on. I think that since then there must be a rivalry between the two on who can provide the slickest graphics or most seemless game play. Remember Enthusia? That was a solid game, but there hasn't been another since. The fact that the two consoles have top tier racing games exclusive to thier respective systems should indicate that each company takes the genra very seriously indeed.

In closing, I'd like to say again that I am glad that the game will continue on for quite some time. And that DLC or updates will be there to soften the blown of another 5 year wait for the next installment of our favorite racing game.

Alll said and done, i think its the least we can do to help our game creators. I HATE paying for digital stuff more than most as well. i can assure you, but in this instance all the trouble japan has been through in the past few years, its the least we do. just my opinion goripjp but i hope the price is low as we all do and 3d an ol el favorito wreck n racing game that i miss is DESTRUCTION DERBY 2 for ps1 a game made by psygnosis and reflections rendering good stuff

If the DLC cars/tracks don't cost more than a couple of hundreds each then my savings should be enough to cover everyone Very Happy ( I wish )

RD has made a good point on spending a little $$$ on Japan products after what they have gone through.

Yes, I think that it would be in the best interest of GT5 players to buy the DLC packs. Without support of thier industries, Japan would have a hard road indeed. When disasters strike small third world countries, the large indusrialized nations swoop right in with aid and relief. Countries like ours or Japan are left to pick up the pieces on thier own.

I won't mind spending a little at all to help them make the money needed to continue a recovery effort.

Great update and news on the DLC to be expected on Oct. 18th, unfortunately the blacked out cockpit view is disappointing. The only standard cars that actually got a decent cockpit were the open wheel cars,( caterham, F1gt, pescarolo lmp1 ,etc). I tried racing with the simplified cockpit and found it to be lifeless and just as impossible to use. I'm trying to keep an open mind but it looks as though i wont be using any standard cars until proper, detailed cockpits are available.

Oh, good. While that may sound odd, it's actually just callousness on my part. I still have yet to see my wireless router. And I'm to thick to know what the modem looks like to run a wire. Noob
