OK Ripsters, I plan on having the disk in my system by 12:15 am central time. I will get my first thoughts in soon thereafter. Post up yours too!

First question to be answered when I open the box, was the mystery photo of the disk a real deal or not? LOL!

Not really on it yet. Apearantly the japaneese minute is MUUUUCH longer than ours! Lol. It says 20 mins, but I'm at a half hour now and it still says 4 min left.

From disk in to demo playing: 47 min.

HOORAY! There really is a GT5! Keep us posted DMH!
I have to work, so I won't be able to start untill late. Do the standard cars look good? Can standard and premium cars race together? Does the '71 Mach 1 look menacing? Does the '70 Trans Cammer sound evil? I'll tune in next time for the answers to these, and more exciting questions, on 'As GT5 turns'

Ok, now I'm in the game. Just ran and won my first a-spec race.

So far I really like the phyics model. Has a much more realistic feel. Gonna run a couple more, then I need to get sone sleep.

DMH is right. Installation takes almost a hour. I got my B licence and won my first sunday cup race. The AI is extremely easy on this level, as expected.

Hint...you have to turn off traction control before every licence test.

As soon as you buy your first car, change the oil. mine was black before I even drove it.

I won a kart, but will have to wait till tomorrow to drive it...it's 3am..lol

We're gonna have fun guys!

Ran for about 2 hours last night. I will second B J's suggestion on the oil. I bought a used toyota mr-5 and halfway through the second race, the dang oil light pops on! Lol.
Won both the races and changed my oil. (250 credits I believe!) Then I went out for some licence runs.

They provide the cars for the licence tests, so you don't have to buy one to get started. There are 10 tests for your Nat-B licence. It took about an hour or so to clear them all gold and get the licence. You get a car if you clear with all bronze, 2 with all silver, and 3 with all gold plus a car for passing the licence.

I have not been online yet, but looked through the guide. Looks like most of the weather can be adjusted. It said if you run nat3 you may have some trouble with some connections. There are 2 ways to hold a race, dedicated host or floating host, each with its pluses and minuses. It did say if the rac3e wasn't smooth, that voice chat sucks up a lot of bandwidth.

You get options of how to setup a race format, q times fastest to slowest, slowest to fastest and last race finish order first to last or last to first.

Don't have too much more to add. Phyics model is very smooth and not as twitchy as gt5p, draft bubble seems to be smaller as well.

Got my CE package at 10:01am est, home by 10:15, installing right now, screen shows "approx 20 mins left" been like that for 10 mins now.
Figured I would be racing by noon, but just got a call to go out for lunch with one of my old work mates, couldn't say no, but what's another 2 hour delay after waiting for a couple of years.

Transfer only works from PSP to the Arcade garage, not from GT5P to GT5.

I had a chance to play for a few hours and managed to put together a realy nasty '71 Mustang Mach 1. It has 750HP and is kicking butt out there right now. Can't wait to bring this monster on-line.

I for one love the physics, way more realistic and less twitchy. I think we'll see controller people match quite well with wheels.

I Love This Game. So dynamic. Again though, we're gonna have issues having the same cars for WRE, with the same tune level, unless we run with no mods. I've found it can take quite a while at this level to earn enough money for a car, let alne enough for full mods.

Is PP a factor on on-line races? I noticed that PP has nothing to do with the career races, yet anyway.

Kart racing is a blast from the past, too bad it's only got one gear, but very cool!

Blackjack, I think that if we can share cars amongst the team, we may have to share quite a bit to all have the same car/tune.
I noticed that tuning is not going to be much of a factor, but generally it takes about 150,000 to 200,000 to fully pimp out a car.

Will be extremely fun WRE challenges with this game though. We'll see a lot of equalisation with the new driving physics. The physics remind me of GT2 and GT4.

Yeeeeehaaaaaaw.

FYI....In case you guys didn't see the message on the gt5 home screen, they are advising people to play offline.

The servers are crashing which is causing the slow load times and frozen screens. They are "working on it"...lol. I hope they get something ironed out or this weekend the servers will go nuclear. I Hope they fix it......"soon" (sorry, couldn't resist)

Hey Clubs,....give them a call and tell em how to fix it..lol.

I was about to take my world war II truck out 4 wheelin when I got the big boot off the game...dang

P.S.
Screw them, I'm playin online...lol

Help load times......

Go to "utilities" in the options menu. There an option to pre-install tracks and cars. It takes about 10 minutes. It seems like it really helps load time.

I'm sure the server issue can be fixed. They should have included for stuffs like this in their plan, I would Smile

Looks like there're some info in the Apex ultimate car guide we can use. I'll read it later.

HOLY SMOKES....has anybody else gotten a huge bill for chassis maintenance?
I took my favorite (most used) car into GT Auto and they want $107,000 for chassis maintenance. I almost fainted. Anybody know a good mechanic? I'm getting screwed by mine...lol. This might be part of the damage model. I must of hit the wall harder than I thought...lol

I guess we need to stay up on preventative maintenance or it will cost ya. (can I borrow some money..lol)

Yes, I own a v10 R8 that regularily needs 99,000 chassis maintenance, it seems depending on the car, the price is set. Hit the wall once, and look forward to a nasty bill.

My Mustang costs 29,000 for frame tweaking.

Yikes, it is costly to wipe out in GT5. I looked for the car damage option but no luck. LOL.

Oh, and that frame reinforcement in the body/chassis section, doesn't make the bill for maintenance any cheaper. I've started to race a lot more carefully. Smile

I guess my huge maintenance bill was due to rolling my camaro..lol. Too bad the car still looked showroom fresh.

If I have to pay for the damage, I sure would like to see it. Oh well, a few more level till 20. I hear damage opens up a little more at 20.

I agree AoS. Not that I have much time right now, but there is plenty to explore. Done a little bit of online racin' with the RIP's in the karts, a couple of the beginner race events and just gonna work through the licenses. Currently got the B and A license, so still plenty to do. Physics seem really good so far and the game is gonna be awesome!!
