STR8 In ICU

Many thanks for keeping us all up to date with Str8's progress 1oaK, it means a lot. I have been on the road with work for the last 2 days but have been actively checking here for updates and am glad to hear how things are going.

By the way, I second what DMH said back there, so when Str8 reads this, I hope he takes note!

God Speed Str8!

Todays update is..... He is off the breathing tube, Hsd been up and walking around with a walker and a staff person for stability. He has been sitting in the recliner in here for a bit but wanted to get up again. He will be going back to the bed to rest. We are SO glad he is progressing this well. Either later today yet or tomorrow they will give him a swallowing test. If he passes it, they will be able to let him eat and drink a little. Baby steps... and he's doing it. I have to keep reminding him that he has to wait for his nurse or aide to help him so they can make sure he is safe while walking around. He keeps asking what happened, I keep telling him and then he says "don't leave me". I keep trying to assure him that I'm not going anywhere. He is doing awesome today. Much better then the past 4 days. He may be able to be in a regular room by Monday (I'm guessing) Ok, gotta try to get him to let me leave the room so Q and myself can go down to get something to eat. I'll check back in later guys. I just can't thank you all enough for all the prayers and support. Will update again with any changes later on.

Hi again guys... the feeding tube has been removed. It was gone when I got in here but guess why it got removed.... Yep... that's right, he didn't listen and removed it himself at least part of the way and they had to get in here and get it before he caused any damage. (shakes head) I just don't get it... it seems like once he is told to leave a tube alone, he just has to mess with it... (kids, I'm tellin ya lol) Everything is going well, his nurses are calling him their "Miracle Man" cuz they say that they have never seen anyone so determined to get out of the bed to get walking around the same day as a breathing tube gets removed, but HE was doing that within a few hours... He passed the swallowing test so they will be letting him eat and drink a little later. The dr wants to do a cardiac cath about 5:50 this afternoon to try to see if there is some blockage that might have caused all of this. If there is, they said he may need to have a stint put in, if not there will be more testing to see if he needs a defibulator put in so that if for some reason his heart starts going into a irregular pattern, it will send a small shock to it to hopefully prevent this from happening again. He might jump on here later to attempt to make an actual post of his own. He was reading some of the posts just a little while ago and made it through page 1. He laughed when he saw the comment from DMH about a PS3 in the hospital room. Also, he wanted me to pass on a message to all of you... "Thanks for all the prayers and support guys, I really appreciate that". He also said " I'm still alive, they haven't gotten rid of me yet lol". I know he is looking forward to all of this getting done so he can get back home and be back on the track with all of you. He did talk to his brother on SKYPE last night, I downloaded it to this computer. So if any of you have it on yours and would like to contact him directly you can contact him that way also. My skype username is ramona.smith9 for any that would like to reach him on skype. I will have skype on and ready to go whenever I am in the room with him (at least for now). Once he gets moved to a regular room the computer will basicly be in his control. Alright... gonna go grab a bite to eat. Skype will be on once I get back in the room. Ok guys, I'm outta here for a bit.I will post again later after the tests at 5:30.

There, see? Ornary as ever just after serious hospitalization! So good to hear that he will be able to resume normal eating today. I'll keep thinking of him during the testing hours today. I'm sure Jack can attest, the heart procedures of today are worlds apart from those in practice just a few years ago.

Worry not 1Oak, Str8 must be in good with SOMEONE to have so much go his way during all this.

They just came to get him for the cardiac cath test. They said it should last about an hour. I will be sure to let all of you know what they find out.

Back from cardiac cath... The dr said there is a little bit of disease in there, but it is not what caused all this to happen. There will be another cardiologist coming in tomorrow to decide if they are going to put a difibulator in or not. We get to find out the answer to that question tomorrow, but the cause of all this is STILL a mystery. I guess if it comes to that, he will have to see a cardiologist as well as the other docs he has... He said it isn't too bad right now and that it was a small amount. They say that they want to figure out what is going on with him and after they figure it out, then they will start working on the treatment for the disease they found tonight. I think we are strong enough together to get through all of this. Ok, I gotta go to try to find out where his coffee and grilled cheese are, they ordered tit for him almost an hour ago. I will update again tomorrow after we talk to the other dr.... also, what do you all think about setting a day and time to meet up on the chat box here on the forum? 3-D brought this idea up to me and I thought ir would be really cool because then at least you all get to talk to him instead of waiting till we get home. Lets figure out if and when we could do this.

Grilled cheese and coffee? Usually after a cardiac cath you get a salad and glass of diet water...lol. Oh..and they ordered a "tit" for him? Sweet! (sorry, had to bring some humor back..lol)
