I am thankfull for every memory , good and bad.the ones that made me happy and the ones that made me sad.

I am thankfull for every thing that has ever touched my life

---

Because its all of these things that let me know i have lived and am alive.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to ALL

In my Mohawk heritage there is an ancient 'thanks giving' prayer, (this is no joke) it took up to 10 days to recite. It's original name is 'Ohenton Kariwatekwen' translated - 'The opening address (acknowledgement)'.

Not only was it recited at this time of year, it was recited in a condensed form at the start of every major tribal gathering. It's purpose was to greet every animal, bug, plant & person, and all other things such as; the winds that change seasons, the planet Earth (our first mother), the sun & moon, and the spirits. Then to give thanks to each (and that's the part that took so long) in extreme detail.

For example...

'Today, we would like to greet the birds, and in our tradition the Eagle is the leader. Birds wake us up each morning with song, it's like a beautiful greeting every day and without fail. In the early days of the bird, the Creator gave everything in our world a job; it called this 'your big job' for the bird it is to greet the walking life each morning, let them hear beauty everyday to get them up in high spirits, with a smile. They will see that there is such a beauty no matter what has passed the day before, and learn that song can hold much power!

So the birds did just that, and have never failed us or the other walking life, they sing every morning. Just outside your home sitting in that tree, the bird will wait until the sun rises and wake you up with a smile.

Birds spread much of the medicine plants especially the berries, which we create sweet foods from that are full of great medicines. When the bird eats it's food, seeds are stored in it's body and get spread throughout the world, bringing new life each day.

So we say thank you to the bird (and the thanking process would take another several hours, lol) 'Nia:wen kowa Akweks' - thank you very much Eagle. And our minds are one.

This would go on for each of the previously mentioned entities.

"Thanks Giving" today is still celebrated, because the original settlers here in north america 'the pilgrims'; were helped by the Eastern native peoples with plenty of food at harvest time (late fall due to growing season in mid eastern U.S.). They gave the pilgrims food in what we know now as the 'horn of plenty'. Jam packed with breads/biscuits/corn/squash etcetera. They let the pilgrims stay with them for feasts and quickly became friends.

To this day it is in most of the homes in north america.

Next time you think of Thanks Giving, do not forget that not only do we have the simple & close things in our life to thank, but each and everything that makes this thing we have as humans work should be thanked. We sure are a lucky species. But we must remember, we are the caretakers of the planet we now control; and it is a thankless job. No one thanks us for doing that (okay we don't really live up to this anymore as a whole species, lol) but that was our 'big job' given to us by the Creator. Many humans still do this job, so to them we give thanks. And our mind is one. LOL (see what I did there).

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving Day. With so much plenty in this country, I am thankful my life is much easier than I realize.

I have a home, instead of a garbage pile.

I have clothes instead of rags.

I have food instead of scraps.

I have hope instead of desperation.

Often times I don't think about these things. Often times I complain about trivial matters. I am thankful to be reminded of what is and is not important in life.


I am epically thankful for ALL my friends who make it worth getting up every morning.

Yes we are here to tend the garden.basicly.way to many have forgoten that fact.as long as there are people here that will remind the others of that fact we will be ok.
