| And you scoffed at the notion of socks as a gift! Bet a real thick pair of wool socks will feel pretty nice tommarow as you chip away at the frozen ice, standing out in the.... Sorry DMH, hope you guys will be able to pull a simple R&R for it. It's never fun to work outside in the winter, let alone having to do a job like that. Good luck with it, and do your best to stay warm. | |

| Brutal dude, working with water in the winter does suck to the extremes of suckage. Were I grew up we were on a really old well and old pipes, they would freeze in the minus 40's, sometimes bursting in the chaos.
One christmas morning we awoke to hear what sounded like a fire hose going off under the bathroom. My dad looked as if someone took his racecar away, lol. Other times the well would cave in at the bottom due to it being sand. I have vivid memories of my mother lowering my dad down the well with my dad tied to the bumper of our old 3/4 ton ford. One time in particular, he got stuck and a little afraid, so his voice rose a couple of decibles, well, she let her rip with the old ford and out shoots my dad at high velocity out of the well, LMAO. Good thing he wasn't hurt, because it sure was comical.
I also have not so fond memories of hauling water by the bucket load from that well in the times of frozen pipes. YAY! Oh, and hauling stacking and splitting wood!
Winter joys, at least these are memories of working together!

| On the bright side of winter, this Saturday we will be taking our daughters out for some tobogganing, sleigh rides and a walkaround a very old village. We'll have some hot chocolat, then put some very tired kids to bed. That kind of stuff I really like about winter, not to mention nice warm fireplaces and a cozy wife on the couch beside me.
I also like the fact that there are no bugs in winter!
Time to return to the Bear cave, it's to dang cold, lol!

| Ummmm, DMH...it's not winter yet. Well not officially....lol. It's still fall for a few more days!! (that doesn't help, does it)
The weather here has people talking. We've had less the an inch of snow in the Mile High city in the past three months. We average 19 inches by now. We might hit a recond high today. Denver will be warmer than Miami today...lol.
If this is global warming...I'm all for it!...lol. On the plus side, the mountians are getting pounded with snow and are 123% above average so far.
Did I mention that we have 300 days of sunshine every year? Shhh...don't say anything, too many people are moving here already!

| Yeah, at least I'm not in Michigan! Thanks for the perspective 1e.
Break was extra fun. One of our valves in the area aparently doesn't close all the way so I got to do a wet repair with the main spraying me in the face in 20 deg weather. At least the heater works well in the backhoe. Lol. I wonder if I can stick an aero package on 'er and a set of racing slicks?
